Austin Lane, West Lane and other areas: an unexpected surprise when wandering Darwin's city streets is the murals that adorn the walls of our laneways. Since 2017, the Darwin Street Art Festival has brought vibrancy and colour to the city's walls, with international, national and local artists contributing to the large-scale art gallery. We’ll have photo opportunities in Darwin's celebrated Austin Lane, home to giant street art paintings.

Duration: 5 minutes

Stop At: The Old Town Hall, 13 Smith St, Darwin, Northern Territory 0800 Australia

On Christmas Eve 1974, after almost a century enduring tropical conditions and 64 air raids during World War II, Darwin's Town Hall literally started crumbling during Cyclone Tracy. The heritage building—erected 14 years after European settlers arrived in the region in 1869—was damaged beyond repair by the natural disaster, as was much of the city. We’ll have photo opportunities at this heritage-listed site, a testament to the destructive power of the cyclone that destroyed much of Darwin.

Duration: 5 minutes

From start to finish absolutely antastic. The dishes presented to us were all from locally sourced products and absolutely mouthwatering. Our street art tour was another wow and so colorful and vibrant and in places the average person wouldn’t see. Darrel was a gracious host and was able to answer all questions and so charming and informative. Worth every cent. An absolute must see and do 🌹🌹🌹

This was such a great tour! I have grown up in Darwin and spent most of my life here and had never been to the places he took us and the food was just phenomenal. Darrel was engaging the entire time and I laughed and chatted comfortably the entire tour. Would absolutely recommend.

The better half and I used our territory tour vouchers for this guided food tour. Blown away!!!! You do not finish the lunchtime tour hungry. We were both pretty full. These guys even organise additional options for those who have different preferences like vegetarian or some allergies as we had a couple in our group. Really worth having a look at doing this tour if you are stuck for ideas on where to go for something to eat. Our tour started at the Roma Bar. We met Darrel there who was going to be our guide and he is also the director. Top bloke. At the Roma Bar we were given a coffee, we had iced lattes. Good coffee. For tucker we were all given 3 small dishes, lentils, fish cakes and sago. All yum. Next we were off to Hilton's Pepperberry then Snapper Rock. Pepperberry served us dishes of bread, scallops, pork belly, miso risotto and kangaroo. They were all delicious. Snapper Rock served us curry cauliflower, salt and pepper croc, paw paw salad, a whole snapper for everyone to share and then finished it all off with brownie and homemade icecream. All dishes 10/10. The tour itself 10/10. It was good to get to see and hear about the street art and a few other things on the strolls between restaurants. Great job Darrel, I hope you are kept busy with this. We will see you again.

This tour is a great concept and will no doubt get better the longer they do them. It was nice to go to restaurants I might not normally eat at - our tour visited Ruby, Phat Mango and Snapper Rocks. The "walking tour" portion was minimal and bit rough, but we were all locals in our group so I wasn't too fussed about that. Overall it was a fun and filling experience.

This was a really great way to spend an afternoon. We used our Darwin vouchers and certainly got fed well everywhere we went. We had a great group that mixed well. In my opinion the best food experience was at Phat Mango - where we given a tasting plate and each element was explained. This is was what I was looking for in a Darwin Gourmet tour - great local food, delivered well, with an explanation of who, how & where. This is a new business and Im sure they will refine their business & experiences with time. Congratulations on a great concept - Darwin is perfect for it.
